Replacing chrome strips

I have managed to source some replacement strips which go on the windows of R4 G T L and need some tips on how to remove old rusty ones with very good used.Do I just lever old off then slide others into place any help much appreciated
 
think there's a lock-strip/device on lower mid-section isn't there? pry it out -carefully
squirt some soapy-stuff (dashwasher stuff) onto chrome-strip and liftout end section
then it's just a matter of carefully lifing it out.
lube "channel" with some more soapy-stuff b4 pushing new one home.Careful not to
bend it while you do.

I've a strong feeling putting new chrome-strips in makes the GTL faster too... -R.
 
Are these the vertical strips? For those remove the plastic window frame first - you can see the metal clips when you peel back the rubber on the inside of the door. 3 on the front window and 4 on the rear if I recall correctly. Then with the window out of the car pull the top of the frame away from the strip and the strip will fall out.
 
Thanks all for the advice and I think Malcolm Probaly right have pulled window frame about but was hoping there was a quick simpler way,and reidalpine if increases horse power will let you know !
 
Malcolm ....Took your advice windows out even took glass out and gave good clean put new chrome strips on windows replaced window units and looking good Thanks for your help.Reidalpine it went a lot faster with new strips
 
Rolemin I'm only up the road from you in Wymondham. Would be good to have a chat someday soon. Would like to know how you got on with these window trims

Wherever will it end.Now want advice on why cooling fan doesn't turn via temp sender unit.I replaced it last year and new one worked ok then car stood roughly 4 months only starting and moving it around yard where I keep it and then noticed new one not working replaced it but this new one mark 2 still no fan turning but if by pass sender it works.So thinking did original new 1 not like sitting for 4 months and it's replacement a dud

Ok will see what I upto .Should be taking car to a get together at Martlesham near Ipswich Sunday if weather ok so if I unable to get over during week and you feel like trip out may see you there
 
Actually will be at my mates garage Vincents of Rushall near Diss this Friday around 5pm if that's any good. Suspect it's pretty near you. Won't have my R4 with me though
 
Yeah that is close as I live in Diss but not sure what time will be finishing work as don't really have set finish time.Also not got R4 over here it in garage near Wymondham
