Only one Renault 4 - a white 1990 GTL which went for €500 + 15% commission, an Estafette van (mid 70's) / hightop struggled up to €280 + 15%, but a LHD rubber bumper MGB drophead with non standard alloys but in excellent condition reached what we thought was an astonishing €11,200 + 15% - this must be near to a record for the least desirable type of drophead.:o
All the vehicles had been subject to a CT, the Estafette needed a contra visite for a couple of things, mainly lights etc.

Seems silly money for a rubber bumpered MGB. But hey each to their own... I do think the Europeans like the English classics as much as the English like the European classics. I guess there are enough people that want something from continental and different from the rest?

Forgot to mention the €7000 + 15% for the COX or VW Beetle as its known elsewhere - it was very tidy, but surely one of the world's most over rated cars?:)

Wrecks to Riches

Hi paulandpat, Wow! :) I'm now bidding on 38 mgb's + 62 beetles currently on uk ebay - my time has come ;). Where's this wonderful auction held and will I need to hire a container ship?
Sadly my beloved brg roadster KVK21L (traded 1975 for a horrendous new Morris Marina Coupe 1.8TC deathtrap ) went to heaven (carhalla) back in 1981 according to the DVLA website - Alas the days that are no more.:(

St James is in the south of Dept 50, about 50 km north of Rennes, the auction is held every Easter Monday in conjunction with the autojumble.
Have not bought a classic car mag for ages but 13 k for a rubber bumpered MGB seemed a hell of a lot. It was a left hooker though - most french people seem to find the idea of RHD totally bizarre!

Sacre Bleu!!!

 Hi paulandpat, D**n! Nothing but right hookers on the stocklist, not a golden lefty in sight. Phew! Bidding rapidly abandoned - there's always a catch.:(:)
