Sealing inner wings

I have re-assembled and aligned (the best i could do...) all the body panels on my white '75. Before being bolted together, I applied mastic-like sealing strips (the plasticine-like kind that remains flexible) between their mating surfaces. I decided to seal the inner wings-to bulkhead-joint from the inside of the wheel arch, with brush-on seam sealant. This is the opposite way from the factory sealing (they applied the sealant from the engine bay side of the joint).
Now for the actual question...do you think it is necessary to apply sealant to the engine bay side of the joint, too? My concern is that, as these parts have already been painted, it would look unsightly, plus it would be a hassle for me to paint over the joints once again.

Angel-I think you have done it the (only)sensible way-Close the gap on the offending side-let inside be as is-alternatively use some penetrating
waxoil or like inside usually dries out much faster due to heat from motor etc and I don't like the idea of having a too "fat" joint between metal sheets ,as moisture Will eventually enter and the sooner it dries out the better.. I used acid-free weapon-oil heated in bucket of real Hot water and brushed it into and between every nook and cranny seam and layer and it still looks real nice and totally rustfree..

Bleedin'Heck! This morning I woke up to 10cm snow-need I say I just went into bed again?? All the best to you Angel. -R.
