Seat Covers

Hi folks,
Quick question: My drivers seat is discoloured and frayed and the colour no langer suits the car as it was resprayed a different colour by one of the previous owners. As the seat is relatively 'structurally sound' I thought that seat covers might be the way to go. I notice that Halfords sell a set of front-seat-only covers for about £24 which, provided that are a good fit and wear well, would be a good solution. Have anyone kn ow anything about these? Are they OK?

I can't comment on the Halfords covers, but if you're relatively handy with a sewing machine it is not too complicated to make a copy of the original covers in a material of your choice.
You say it's structurally sound, but you might be surprised! When I took my covers off my seats I found loads of broken springs, and even fatigue in the frame that needs welding to fix.

Hi Mike, I reckon you are in the right place to get a replacement seat. Why not do a wanted on the forum with perhaps a picture of the passenger seat if that is in good condition. By the way, as far as I know the driver and passenger seat are interchangeable. Hopefully there is a forum member out there with a spare seat for your car. Or even a set if you wish to change the colour.

**that's rigth, my seat frames were all over rust covered(i wonder how rust/water was pourer inside the uupper part also.Had to sandblast+paint everything.Covers are not the real task(if yoa are not going to try historic plates) but the spring assy is.To mine seats wer used wooden sticks, wire, strings etc to recover the softness after loose springs.

I did have the sring assy retouched by professionals.

I bought a set of 4 covers from eBay with floor mats included for £20. The driver seat on my Super5 was very worn. They are universal but fit well and are surprisingly good quality for £20.
