As its almost the end of another year, thoughts turn towards the next. So what are you planning for 2012 as regards your R4 / 5 / 6 etc in terms of events and anything else?

Me? First of all, the red GTL needs a bit of attention. Should be off to the bodyshop in the new year for a few bits and pieces then brakes need sorting - strip rears, new cables and whatnot then we are pretty much sorted. New deCarbons on the front and perhaps an upgrade to an F6 antiroll bar.

F6 just carries on regardless. Wouldn't mind a pair of front wings and a partial repaint just to get rid of a couple of minor dents but thats probably about it.

After that it'd be nice to get to a few events. Can't do Simply French sadly but there must be a few others I can R4 along to.

So what about everyone else?

First job is to get the '73 van back on the road.
I have finally got planning for my new garage at home, so for the first time ever I can have the cars here with me...Joy!
Will get to France next year on a road trip but it will prob' be in the Avantime not the 4...
Must sell more cars than I buy, but then I did say that last year and managed 3 in and 3 out.

Get the car painted and reassembled in time for Easter.
Was optomistic about temperatures this week, but after a very cold spell, when the temperatures shot up overnight, everything in the workshop was suddenly under a thin film of condensation.
Not conducive for paint adhesion.

Anyway, hope everyone had a good New Year's Eve, return to 'normal' beckons on Tuesday. Make the most of today and Monday.

The last days of 2011 were not good when it comes to my R4. I was away when my father called me to say that the red GTL is dead :( He went to a nearby town, when he tried to drive back only few meters after the star there was a loud BANG, the car stopped and the engine is stuck. I can see a oil spray on the firewall, it seem that something is wrong with the timing chain. This is my priority... If all goes well I will do an engine transplant tomorrow.

Big overhaul is planned for the red GTL when it comes to welding and painting, the chassis is verry rotten. Interesting year ahead, especially if the crisis continues :(

Hope you get the red car fixed. Let us know what you find when you strip the broken engine.

I'm going to need my own thread for plans for 2012, though I'll be short of time until the auto industry packs in again so it's likely none of my plans will happen. Only one proper working space in the garage so first plan is to finish the Renault 5!

Must get rid of some cars too - 4 arrived last year but I only sold one. Should be offering a nice LHD Savanne early summer.

I'm dreaming of a Roofrack!
Preferable some old-school-style one.

What do you think ... ?

Must get the 850 R6 and the 4cv on the road before the show season starts.
The R6 1100 is the only classic I have on the road at present and I am bogged down with projects.
If I clear the above two There will only be the peugeot 304 as a project.

I absolutly want to finish my 87 grey GTL, the restoration started in august 2009...
I want to have the french MOT for my 77 TL to have the "carte grise" with my name and become the official owner.
I would like to paint my 87 blue GTL which is in very good condition (chassis) but has a lot of bumps on every body panel :(
I would like to have 500 € at this moment to buy my new Export 68 !

Happy new year to all ;)

To really get started on Rene so hoping I'm in with the welder at work other wise its down to being self taught :S

I believe I have everything I need that is not off the self, aside from a chassis part but still in two minds on that one

and to start tracking down the 'parts' I want that I don't need (Roof rack for Skis and Snowboard[also would like], nice set of alloys, various engine parts for an extra power pop and a new sound system) Just praying the chassis is not beyond my skills to repair.

But happy new year and the best of luck for our plans

Like several of you I've got too many non R4 projects that need sorting first, so I think the GTL is going to spend 2012 stood waiting in the shed!

There will only be the peugeot 304 as a project.

Gary, these are great cars and I'm glad to hear someone is saving one. I had two 304s Cabriolets (both white with brown interior) and loved them. They rot horrifically (rusty old French cars, hmm I sense a theme here) and the placement of the distributor on rhd ones is diabolical but they have a certain charm, especially with the top down. Good luck with it!

I need to get rid of some projects that will never happen and finish the rest. First to go is an 85 R4 body and chassis, body is good with only some surface rust, chassis is gone in the usual places, last on the road in 2008 no front wings or bonnet or interior, use it to rebuild another then swap all the bits, has a V5 trailer it away for £200 or offer, pics to follow in a few days. A Malibu may follow soon, on SORN but MOT to next August. I need to finish a 5GTL, 5 Gordini Turbo and an F6. Does anyone know about Estafette 800 one near me for sale with no engine was it an 850 and will an 1108 fit instead is the running gear Dauphine or something special, any help gratefully received.
Happy new year to you all
Allan

I need to finish my pickup but inconsiderate customers keep bringing in cars for me to work on which is slowing the whole thing down...

By early 2013 I aim to have Felicia straturally, mechanically and electrically sound. Most of the work is pencilled in for the summer holidays, but in the near future I'm going to be doing some work on the suspension, replacing knackered shocks, investigating a new driveshafty noise and trying to correct the severe list to the driver's side.

New engine fitted as soon as possible!
My head gasket blowed away for Christmas (!), and having to work on the engine I am going to plan, with my mechanic, a gtl-ization, as Angel explained me. I have to look for a gtl gearbox...

My plans are a little bit dark for my R4. Planing to sell her in march.
She was 20 years in our family.

I'm about the start the restoration of my 71 F4 van, I decided when I could see into one of the rear chassis rails and out of the bottom from inside the vehicle that it was time to start !

+Got to get the big car welded for the MOT - rear spring cups are knackered and front sills have gone!

Theney 2012

Hi All I have lived in france for over 21 years, and last year attended the 50 years meeting at Theney, with my french friends. This year I would very much like to meet some of you Brits who will coming over.
I will be driving up from COGNAC.
OVER TO YOU ! Thibault !

Your timing chain must be a little claustrophobic, Vedran, and was desperately seeking for open space :-D. I wish nothing worse happened inside, though.

My plans, R4-wise,are: To find time and patience to Waxoyl the '75. To find a 5-speed gearbox and disc brakes for the Jogging, and fit them before summer. To find time and space to start restoring the '71. Finally, to find a local pre-67 "sortie de grange" that may be hiding somewhere...
Happy 2012 to all of you, and may your dreams and plans come true!
