Sofabex fuel pump

Hello!

Last autumn i have bought new sofabex 8005 fuel pump(sealed tip) for my R4GTL 1128 - 1,1 688712 engine




Last weekend wanted to change my old sofabex fuel pump with new one.

But when i looked little bit closer i have found small hole on bottom of the pump.





To be more confused that edge of that hole seem to be rough. Like something have broken from there.


Is that hole normal or pump is broken?

Think i have found answer!

On oscaro.com found VALEO pump for same car that looks just the same as sofabex and have same hole on pump.

If someone know why is this hole there please explain!

I believe that hole is there to allow air inside chamber to go in and out when pump sucks fuel in and sending fuel to carburetor

I think you got it right, petal - probably an air intake/exhaust for the pumping action.

I missed my question mark earlier, it's probably as you suggest a breather to allow the pump to work correctly.

In my R4 i use peugeot fuel pump instead of fuel pump of renault. It work perfectly no problem at all, they are the same.....

Hello could you tell me where you bought your Sofabex fuel pump from my car has the same engine code 688d712 does the D mean that the Sofabex 8005 will be OK and by the way my car is left hand drive .Thank you

I bought pump from Franzose.de some time back while they had reasonable shipping price.

I have old sofabex kataloque in PDF but it is to big file to attach it here.

If you send me your email i can send it to you, and you can see is there better pump for your car.

But i believe that this pump will work on your car.

Mine engine is also 688D712 and car is left hand drive.
