I bought this Renault 4 through this site:

I registered it for UK use and had work done to it to get an MOT. So it has V5 documents and can be insured for about £160/year. Tax is £120/year. We've driven the car regularly for a couple of years now.
I put it through an MOT a couple of weeks ago and with things changing for us we've decided not to do the work and pass it on.
MOT failure points:
2 small welds - O/S near rear door and chassis. O/S front mount (£100)
2 ball joints - (£20 parts + half hour labour)
Reconnect Handbrake (half hour labour - would suggest weld to fitting)
Replace Steering Rack (Des on this site still has one for £65 + hour labour)

O/S wing mirror (£25 ebay)

These are all ball park figures but I've tried to be as accurate as I can so you can budget to get car on the road.
The current MOT runs out 16th Feb 2012.
Road Tax runs out the end of FEB 2012
