Solex elbow and tips needed.

Finished the head gasket replacement. Car now runs like a dog. Difficult to start (needs easy-start), won't idle etc etc. Found the plastic elbow that connects the breather and the carb base is broken. I assume its letting in air. I have checked the exhaust and inlet manifolds for leaks.

It ran beautifully before I did the work. I did not touch anything other than the head - which I removed complete with manifolds. I did take off the dizzy cap.

Read in the forum that these elbows 'are available from your Renault dealer'. Unfortunately there aren't any in USA!

I would block the pipe at the base of the carb to test it - should run perfectly with the pipe blocked if all else is good.

- Hang on plastic elbow ? got a picture ?

check have you lost the resrictor in the small pipe which is at the base of the carb, it should have a 1.5 mm rerictor on ths pipe or air can miss the carb and go stright to the maniflod causing stalling or not slow running it just stops anda very weak mixture
