some hesitation at coasting

Hi all! I'm experiencing a little hesitation (stumbling) when coasting -especially in higher gears..
it only occurs when I'm just "holding" it at speed -Not on accelerating.
Can't say pulling out choke makes it better either...

-Would enrichen by the mixing-screw be the right place to start?
Upon adjusting I think it was set at poss. too low figure (under 1,5% Nox) if I'm not wrong

I've also mounted a K&N air-filter to the dual carb (Weber Dir 32-32) so maybe emulsion-pipe
could be suspected to be too lean too ??
I'd like to change one item at a time so as not to confuse myself unneccessary -Easily done
I'm afraid! :ashamed:

Oh yes -motor is C2JP 7-13 1397cc 5TX

-Hope you guys are having a GOOD time out there! -Reid.

Paul?! Paul!!-if you don't come out from where you're hiding soon you Will stay there till midnight and No din-din at that ..you hear?? -Reid.

This forum doesn't work like facebook where mentioning my name tags me in a post ☺
The wonder of the wifi in hotel means I can answer easy questions but all the variables of making guesswork means too much typing and thinking
However if you want to pay my expenses i am happy to come and have
A look ☺

Don't bother with idle mixture screw, does not hava any effect at part throttle.

Emulsion tube is a good point to start, but a bit of a guesswork deciding on which is richer or leaner at that particular point.

Depending on what you mean "cruising", idle jets may or may not have an effect on mixture.

Hi there Angel! Hope all is well with you down Athens.. Tested some more today and it seems this hesitation occurs in all gears
-a little worse in 4th and 5th. When brought up to chosen speed and I let of throttle,so as just to maintain speed it stutters
and feels lean.I'm talking mid-register rpm's Don't really have a clue Actual rpms, as tacho hasn't been mounted yet.

Installed a small reducer today as only front sports-muffler made it sound like a kamikaze-jet especially on decelleration-Lots
of blaring and some backfiring.. Much better now,no backfiring just deeper throatier sound on acc.. -Reid.

after installing that small reducer near to end of exhaust-system hesitation seems somewhat better but still not all gone
-could it have been kind of a suck-out or what?

I guess getting you Paul over here to have a look-see woud be out of my budget as I hear you're high maintanance when
moving amongst normal humans ?? (like the Phantom-All heard of but seldomly seen) -Reid.

Try a slightly larger idle jet if you have one, for a start.

An AFR meter is invaluable for such situations. It has happened to me a lot of times to "feel" a hesitation as leanness, while in fact it was due to overly rich mixture, or vice versa.

Thanx again Angel. I noticed today new exhaust-pipe is very slightly blackish inside
-just kind of Dry sooty stuff, so you might be rigth in thinking rich mixture , I will recheck both Co and Nox-levels first.. -Reid
