hi.

Can anyone recommend suitable soundproofing for the floor well in the R4 . Can you get bitchemin matting anywhere or is there a better alternative?

Many thanks.

The R4 already has a thick rubber floor mat. Personally I wouldn't bother adding any more mass to the floor.

The floor will only stop road noise. It's engine noise that is dominant in the R4. Dip the clutch while driving at motorway speed to see what difference engine noise makes.

I have done some soundproofing and insulation on firewall, and roof.

You can read more in my topic http://www.renault4.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-i-done-r4-gtl.3996/page-9#post-43410

For floor i have something similar in my mind
First layer - 5 mm foam rubber.....light, does not absorb water and more resistant than foam i have used for roof and firewall http://www.tehnoguma-zg.hr/en/our-offer/foamy-material/porocell/
Second layer - 2 mm reinforced rubber...similar to original rubber mat. http://gumiimpex.hr/rubber-based-technical-items/rubber-rolls/ SBR material

But believe that biggest problem for soundproofing and insulation will be doors and windows when air start ti whistle around cabin

Unfortunately can not tell you how much improvement all this rubber will bring to soundproofing and insulation.
Still left to see when car is on run
