I open this post for asking some tips and advices, before start a engine after a long time without work.

Check oil level?
Turn the engine manually?

Check the oil level is a good start, then remove the plugs and pour a little fresh new oil down each cylinder as well & turn the engine over manually.

Drain out all the old fuel from the tank. It will be stale.

I hops this helps!

Thanks!!

The motor turns easily.. the old fuel was completely deteorite.. it's notable the head is completely dry..

Some Renaults have a starting handle. I would turn the engine using this to begin, and later use the starter motor to turn the engine WITH THE PLUGS REMOVED so it won't start. do this until the oil pressure warning light goes out, indicating that the oil pressure is high enough to cover all the bearings and rocker valves.

This 4L don't have starting handle, I will turn the engine without the plugs!! This tip probably save some future problems.

Probably the old gasoline deteorite something else.. don't arrive gasoline to the fuel pump.. the tank have some internal filter?

Spray some "EASYSTART*" into the engine air intake. The car should then start when you replace the plugs and reconnect everything, so you will know the engine is O.K. and the problem is the petrol.

Or maybe you could put some new petrol in a container and have a pipe from the to the input on the pump? This will get the car running properly on petrol.

*= "Easystart" is an English aerosol product, based on volatile hydro-carbons, that helps start cars. I'm sure there's a similar product available in Portugal!

The engine started immediately when I put some petrol directly on the carb. But don't arrives any petrol to the pump, I will do what you said, put new petrol in a container directly conect do the pump, this do a bypass to the tank and to the petrol pipes.

*Easystart.. it's available a lot of brands here, I have this, but in his case I think the problem is other..

The stale (old) petrol may be blocking the petrol pipe from the tank to the pump. I think you might have to remove the tank and drain it and blow compressed air through the pipe to clear it out.

Now that you have the engine running you know the problem is the old petrol and a possible blockage in the pipes.

Bypass to fuel line From the tank to the pump.. the pump is ok..it push petrol to the filter

Air on the fuel line from the tank, and everything ok.. so let's check the tank.

One time I have the tank out, I will/try clean the inside.

After 14years..

A little cleaning

So after 14years this GTL works.. new fuel pump, bypass to the tank fuel line and the engine work.. but after the 1st cold start don't work again..and the consumption is to high, 1L goes very fast at idle..

coil values ok
Condenser values ok

So I will start on the carb. It is an 28if v05084 with acceleration pump (i think)

First impressions petrol on admission after more 24h without try start the engine

The needle valve have write M.9 instead 1.25

You've managed to have it running, which is progress! Once it's running properly you can address other problems. Remember the gaskets will have dried out, so may need replacing or might absorb some fuel, which will affect consumption. You may still have dirt in the pipes or carburettor that might need clearing again soon!
