Sump gaskets

What is the best way to fit sump gaskets with or without sealant. If with sealant which type?

Hi Martin, I presume you're using a cork gasket?
When I fitted mine, I looked for a sealant as well but its not necessary.
I got some really good advice from Mr Reno, he advised on a spray contact adhesive just to hold the gasket in place while you fit it.
Also when you tighten the bolts, don't over tighten as the gasket squishes out the sides.

The gaskets are not cork - the old ones were but the new ones are a dark grey board type.
