Suspension problem

Recently got a GTL, nice car but steering has tons of play in it, handling very vague and ride very bouncy! I’m guessing suspension dampers need replacing (not sure how many or which ones).


Is this something I could get fixed at a Renault specialist? I live in central London and have about as much space as mechanical ability (read: zero). Can anyone recommend someone good?

Hi there, the Renault 4 naturally has lots of bounce but you could well have damper problems. As for steering, that is usually very precise as its rack and pinion type, so you could have problems there also. May I suggest you contact Derek Flavell at Renospeed, he has a website, I'm sure he will be able to advise you, as he really knows his stuff when it comes to the 4, and his business is at Lewisham, so maybe not far from you. I'd second going down to see Derek at Renospeed (http://renospeed.co.uk/). He's a Renault 4 specialist and has sorted out problems with our car before. You're lucky to have someone that good so close
