Remember a while ago I was trying to track down the person who had advertised R4 gearboxes for about £75. Well I did track him down and I did purchase one of the boxes. Syncro was away on second on my 1975 TL, so easier to replace the box. No!
Turned out it was I think Dauphine? In other words it turned in the opposite direction. Not to be out done we removed the diff from the old box and swaped them round. Works a treat.
Pikey and I and wifes travelled to France and no problems. Both cars are 1975.
Best cruising speed is about 55mph and returned over 40 mpg. Both cars ran fine there and back. To Scotland that is.
Just need to get some sound deadning.
It was great on the narrow French roads, the car is so narrow you don't really have to pull over when you meet someone.
Lots of positive reaction from the French when they saw British plates.
Malcolm, by the way as you are the source of all knowledge do you know where I can get an ignition switch for a 1968 TL. Key has been broken off in the switch since I bought it.

don't mean to tread on Malcolms turf but... As he is as you say The-Source! You can get a new Neiman-lock (ign.lock) at Der Franzose in Germany Or from Melun Retro Passion in France atleast.

Good to hear you got your car going in the right direction again.
