vin number / date of manufacture

Hello,
my name is tom.
I believe that I have a 1974 R4,
but I cannot verify that.
can someone point me in a good direction to match Vin number and a date of manufacture?
I am missing the oval plate, but there is a number stamped in the metal cross- member above the engine.

The site could be helpfull finding the year of manufacture. Look at the last 8 caracters (it is the VIS of the total VIN). That first caracter tells the year of manufacture, the other 7 the serialnumber.
Normally the VIN is located on the central cross member of the passenger side chassis.
