Oh no!
Bought it for it's perfect little engine, and put the rest up for sale.
Had a farmer drive 250km in his VW who removed my seized motor, and then install the other motor for me in exchange for the body.
Took him 7 hours all in. I was amazed!
And my van is sweet again!

How long would a job like this generally take for someone who's done it before?

I started to take my engine out to fit a new timing chain at 5pm and it was in and running again by 11pm with out a bonnet fitted. So it sounds like your mechanic is ok.

By the way any pictures of you new engine in the van?

Minor problems to be sorted. Fuel pump not working and alternator not charging.
Will sort out in the next few days
