The thread on the bolt must go outwards or the rear brake compensator housing will be modified like this when the vehicle is loaded !

I've put mine together as it was.
I've bought these bolt new because it was too much rusted, need to use a lot of force and WD-40 to get it off.
The bolt is 55mm long. Should be put in from the inner side. 60 is to long (you can't put it in, because of the chassis) and 50 is just to short.

I recommend that you put things together as they were before :)
 
I am lifting up this tread unnecessary but have same issue as you Alewis.
And car came with bolt mounted in "wrong" way

I was always wondering why housing of rear compensator is demolished.

Now i know why!
 
I never thought of that but I wonder whether that's also a problem for the cast iron swingarms. Mine has the dampers attached differently.
