What about my engine and carburettor???

Hello folks!!!

After some months since I bought my R4 (845cc TL year 1984), a couple of days ago I discovered that my carburettor is a Zentih 28IF V05078A.
On Haynes manual and on this tabel that carburettor is associated to 688 (1100cc) engine.
Furthermore, I don't know which kind of engine is under my bonnet car since miss the plate.
In the vehicle registration is indicated B1B D7 but I am pretty sure that has been changed because B1B engine uses a Zenith 32IF and the year marked on my engine is 1986.
So, the questions are two: to give a "name" to my engine and understand if the carburettor is right.
Here some pics of my engine. Just for information, the distributor is a Ducellier R287D83 (525424A) and on the inlet/exhausted manifold there is the code II2 (or 112) - 3539453.

Thanks a lot for your help!!!!

Hi Ramblers
I have a 1980 1100 and a 1983 845 and they both have Zenith 281F carbs. I was busy taking photos and then my battery died, so will have to wait a bit

Hello mojobaby! Really thanks for your help!
Could you also tell me which kind of 845 engine do you have (B1B, 800,...)? And which is the model of your 28IF (V05.......)?
Thanks again!!!!

The distributor is correct for the post-84 models (B1B), however the carburettor may had been replaced at some time as this distributor with the vacuum advance mechanism was only coupled with the 32IF7 carburettor on the 845cc engines.

You are not doing any harm now, but you should expect better low and mid range torque if you fit the correct carburettor.

P.S. I assume we are talking about an 845cc engine, and not a 1108cc one that someone fitted and removed the ID plate so as not to register it.

Hi Ramblers

My red 1983 845 has Zenith 281F carb with number V05 075B and its an 800 engine.

My green 1980 1100 has Zenith 281F carb with number V05 078A and its a 688 engine.

I took some pics remember the red car is the 845. Have a look at the rocker cover on the cylinder head. Its quite narrow- the same as yours.

The green car is the 1100 and that rocker cover is practically the same width as the cylinder head.

When you take photos you realize how dirty your engine is so guess what I'm going to be doing tomorrow

I confirm that the engine is a 845cc. My doubt is which kind of it is. However, the year marked on the head cylinder (1986) let me guess that it is a B1B. I don't think Renault used to produce old engine (like 800-xx) in that year...but maybe I am wrong

:D:D:D yes, that's right!

However, if I wanted to fit the 32IF carburettor, which parts would I need?

1. carburettor...of course :)
2. manifold
3. ...

Thanks!!!!

What do I need to fit a Zenith 32IF?

Hi guys! I could buy a Zenith 32 IF7 to replace the wrong 28IF that "someone" fitted on my B1B engine.

Before to buy it, I would like to be sure what I need to put it correctly.
As already written above, my engine have a manifold with the code II2 (or 112) - 3539453.

Could it be good for a 32IF?

Thanks for your suggestions ;)
