Hello,

I want to fit a radio into my 1988 French R4 but dont know where to start with the wiring. Helpfully someone has previously hacked out a chunk from under the steering column to get to the electrics, so they are all out on display.

Can anyone tell me what all these wires are for?!
And can the radio be wired from any of these, or do I need to wire it fresh from the fusebox (and if so, where is that and what does it look like )

Im a bit of a car maintenance novice as you might have noticed :lol:

I have an 84 GTL and the owner's manual on page 45 gives instructions on fitting a car radio. It mentions fitting a purpose renault radio console -easily obtained and then obtain a corresponding joining harness from your renault dealer and then the following instruction " Disconnect the red dual connector under the dashboard (adjacent to key ignition switch) and reconnect it to the radio: Female terminal + and male spade terminal-. This connector is live when the ignition key is in the "Accessories " or Ignition "On" position.
It is quite likely that the red connector in your photo is possibly the one referred to. You could test it with a test lamp or multimeter to confirm it's the right one. Hope this is useful. Good luck.
