Hello! The red and blue dots indicate hot (red) and cold air (blue) inside the car. There should be a lever on the end of the rod just to the right of the dots - it looks like it has got snapped off in your car. You turn the lever to get cool or hot ventilation air in the car.

(From the first picture, it also looks as if you are missing the switch to turn on the fan to provide air to the inside of the car.)

Glad to see that pictures are useful for something else then me putting them on forum. :D

What is the lever above hot/cold lever on petak's picture? Is this open/close for windscreen air ? Never noticed that before.

Hi chudson, it controls the direction of the hot or cold air, either windscreen or footwell.

That lever directs air to the windscreen or to the air vents lower down.

Brian - you beat me to it!

Edit: I think there is a another lever higher up that opens/closes the external air vent (which was a flap on the earlier models). Sometimes it gets mistaken for the bonnet release knob by mechanics!

Here is picture of firewall where you can see that additional lever jjad is talking about.

right one opens fresh air from outside (grill under the window or flap in earlier models)
left one (near shifter) releases bonnet lock.

Thanks Petak - that has reminded me to close it in this colder weather (I thought it was getting a bit cold inside the car - I thought the heater wasn't working as well as it used to!)

With heating turned on, the air from the vent passes through the little rad and warms up the car... so with open flap is better in winter too!
