Hello,

I found this one while surfing, does anybody have an idea what would be a reasanable price for the car ?

It's a 1972 R4 with sunroof (recently restored), not too much rust and running good. It looks good..

Thanks !

It's difficult to judge form photos. 1972 with factory sunroof is an excellent spec. 12V, nice seats. You could only go cooler with a 1968 converted to 12V which might have nicer seats and an even more transparent steering wheel, but they have the ugly front end.

The quality of the restoration is what will make the difference. If the chassis and body have been restored very well and low miles I'd guess £2000 - £3000 in the UK. If it's a paint over to make it look shiny or a quick restoration more like £1000 to £1500.

Looks decent from the photos so I'd guess somewhere in the middle. I don't know about European prices.

Well,

It seems it was just sold for 1500€, about 1200£, too late for that one..

The R4 I currently own is a 1969, which we're restoring as good as possible, only the welding is a thing I don't have enough experience in to do it myself. Neither is the paint job I fear.. Is a good result possible with some practice and a good DIY compressor and paint gun, or only to be tried after some years of practice ?

Here's some pictures of the ongoing work..

I still desperatley looking for an original 1969 bonnet, with the round indicators and the grill, if somebody has one on the mainland ??

Malcolm, your site is a great inspiration and help for me, that's for sure..

By amazing co-incidence I can help with tutorials for both the welding and the spray painting.

For both welding and painting the skilled operators can do amazing things really quickly, but it is possible for us learners to achieve good results by spending more time. Neither are difficult to learn to a good enough standard.

Wow - your car is in bits! Looking good. Flickr is a bit slow this evening so I can's see much. Feel free to use the gallery on here or post some photos on the forum - much quicker.
