What points to buy...........It infuriates me

By the way as regards new points, and buying off the Internet or at a garage

My points have no serial number on them so how can I be sure that I am ordering the right points?

When I ask for some new points at a garage OR on the Internet, it infuriates me when they ask what car I have because surely its not the car you have but what distributor.

For example I have and R324C33 Ducellier distributor which is for a van NOT a 4l so asking me which car I have is a waste of time.

they just look at the computer ........"Computer says no"

So when I explain the exact distributor make and model number they just dont want to know, too much work I guess....they just do what the computer says...

Right, that's me off the soap box for this afternoon

Anyway any help on getting some more brand new points would be a great help.

If you look on Oscaro or Melun or go to a Renault garage they all have pictures of the points,so you can compare them but you will still have to tell them what car you have and what engine it has other wise you will never find the dizzy.That no, you quoted is of no use to a parts man,unless it is Ducellier workshop.
The van and car points are the same and it would be best to get a condenser as well,if you have an 1100 motor i think there are only two types,but both readily available

last time i was buing points for my GTL i went to renault official dealer. I gave them chassis number, and guy told me that there are two kinds for my car and for duccelier distributor. So i had to go to car and open distributor cap to see how mine look like. And then he could give me right points. Price was less than 10 GBP. But again it was some 4 years back.

Done....

Just gone onto Melun and had a look at the photos and picked what I hope is mine and I also bought a new condeser.

Now I nee to buy some feeler guages.
