Wheel Trims

They look nice but do not know will fit to R4

Bolts on R4 wheels are 3×130. Do not now what is on R12 or fuego.

You can ask seller to measure pcd.
If it is 130 than i am sure they will fit R4

Pcd is imaginary diameter of circle thatbilts are creating.

Hi Richnd.
One could get a variety of alu.wheel-covers and charm-rings usually secured on by the center-nut only. These would look better on your
r4 than the later plastic "Man-hole covers".. If you go for alu-ones DO press on a plastic-tube over the valve-stem as the covers will move
around a little and the edges where air valve comes through are razor-sharp so Bevare as they Will cut into the valve-stems if you don't
do anything about it .4 pc's of usual see-through water-pipe does it and they will not stand out so won't be noticed at all.... -Reid.

I think that these will fit the R4 as they are listed in this Renault Boutique catalogue as fitting the R5 Mk1.

But I agree with Reid that the 'manhole cover' wheel-trims do not suit the Renault 4, though I know this is subjective. It might be cheaper jsut to get them refurbish - It didn't cost me much to get my fergats refurbished (€30/wheel) and they were two different colours

Hello Richard. I think that's a wise choice, I've always thought that wheel trims just don't look right on a 4, and you can't beat the purity of the originals. If you wish to change the look I think an upgrade to Fergats or Alpines, or other suitable wheels is the way to go. Just my opinion for what's it's worth.

Hi Cornish4, I agree with you-if you get the old ones primed in Proper 2K and then you have the choise of colours to your liking
by using simple spray-can paint. I did that 20 yr's ago on some 10" Mini-wheels and they still to this day show NO sign of rust.

All in the eye of the beholder, but to me Alpine-wheels (the alu ones) doesn't look at home on a 4,but I got 4 Fergats (5,5" w.)
NOS so if you Richnd can locate a set of same in 4,5" we could do a swop -just a thought.... -Reid.

Hi Reid, yes no reason why the home restorer can't refurbish their cars wheels. If preparation and priming is carefully done they will give good service. I know what you are saying about Alpines, I like the ones with the finned rim, but not sure about the simpler ones with three squares, if you know what I mean. Catch up with you in Thenay. Brian. :drunk:

I know what you mean-I quite like the finned ones -on their own,it just seem a big crash when on a R4.
-Not long till we zoom down twrds Thenay by now.. I look forward to meet up with you and the rest of
the guys from the coconut factory Brian... -Reid.
