Hi all. I am going to repaint the metal front window frames in my 1972 R4. Paul Cunningham did an overhaul, so they are work well, and because they are in good condition, I want to keep them.
I was going to clean them off, paint with a Hammerite rust converter, then zinc rich primer. Has anyone advice on a satin finish good quality black top coat paint for the frames, and what black bedding compound to set them into the door with ?
All advice gratefully received. Thank you.

I did mine with black epoxy mastic onto the bare metal - This is a really good rust barrier. I then applied a matt black 2K (aerosol type - read the safety data sheet) over the top, after suitable preparation. The epoxy makes a good filler coat. You can spray, brush or roller it but it is not good with UV, hence the 2K. 2 winters later and they are still good as new.
The best sealant I have come across is Dinitrol 410 UV. I always mask when I am sealing as I have never completely mastered this skill.
