Hi

1985 Renault 4 GTL for sale.

"Folly" is a B reg GTL in silver, with faded paintwork and some rusty spots on the bodywork.

The good news is that she has an MOT until Aug 2011, and goes like a train!

We have owned her for 21 months, and have in that time she has had some welding done to the chassis (by Renospeed) and replacement drive shafts fitted (again by Renospeed).

I have also fitted a new radiator, and a re-conditioned alternator.

She has also had four tyres, new windscreen wipers, and new front brake pads.

We'll be sad to see her go :(, but need a bigger car for our family. :smile:

We're looking for around £1200 ovno.

Also included in the sale are two rear wings, one front wing, and a front and rear bumper!

I have one the exact same as this that is engine and gearbox-less. The body on mine is almost mint, its dented on the tailgate but the best part is the chassis is un touched. I will be breaking it up for spares in the new year i think because i have so much on the go and as hard as i try, you cannot save them all.
 
Well, Folly has a gearbox _and_ an engine, both in fine fettle! :D

Hi there, so sorry and surprised that no-one from the forum snapped up your R4, she sounds like a great car. There is or maybe was at least one forum regular out there that was looking for a car for the Thenay road trip. I agree, hope she goes to a good home, and you get what you want for her, it's not a fortune is it. Good luck. Brian.

I dunno purpaboo, the buy it now aint a lot of money in real terms, for sure.

I think that its really the thought that the car to survive long term in the UKs, let's face it, harsh climate for old cars wld really need a respray...perhaps more chassis suspension rot problems, and drivers seat being shot can't help...

Its a baffling point to me that the 2cv , which is in essence just a small cheap fun practical French car like the R4 has motored ahead price wise,

when any protracted drive though the French countryside will invariably throw up a good few more Quatrelles than 2cvs .

Perhaps its just that, scarcity value?


Or maybe that the 2cv was the original peasant car and the R4 was a later addition to the scene.
 
There must be a lot of watchers on it! Although I've seen people bidding silly prices over the BUY it Now by the end of auctions.
