We've been talking about a Northern R4 run. But as the most northern R4 run is currently in Kent I reckon Bedford might be a step forwards. It's really handy for me and there are a few other folk about in the area.

Testing the water at the moment, but I know I should get a move on if anything is going to happen this year.

'Ow about a meet south of Bedford on Sunday 9th September, and an aviation run that takes in the Cardington hangers (for airships - really big) and ends up at the Shuttleworth collection for their air display of elderly aircraft? £20 entry for the air display is the snag.

Or would you prefer a treasure hunt and BBQ which would be more free? Or both? Why not make a weekend of it - can do camping.

The R4 forum committee is meeting later this week, and might make a decision if the long and extravagant lunch gets past the any other business stage. So if anyone is remotely interested one way or the other do pipe up and say. Or if everyone can't make it could it be an idea for next year with your actual forward notice?

Im local.

If it were to fall on a weekend when im at home i'd certainly be interested in coming along.

I'm local ish but don't have a four at the moment, only the Twingo. Funnily enough I drive to Bedford quite a bit with work.

Do you mean Sunday the 7th September? Unless the 9th has been declared an additional Day of Rest!?

Now that we are at the centre of R4 activity, we'd be interested :)

I've decided that as a Renault 4 run a trip to Shuttleworth might be a disaster.

In a traditional run we'd meet up somewhere, drive around for hours, then park up and chat about camshafts until we got bored. Nice and easy to organise. For Shuttleworth we could convoy there from here which is handy for people coming from the west, but not from the east, and parking as a group wouldn't be possible for people approaching from other directions at different times, and once we park we'd be wandering off to look at the elderly aircraft flying around so nobody else would find us.

It is the 7th it is rather than 9th. You are quite right there. I wonder if we ought to think of another venue or a better plan and organise something for next year when my fancy new Gordini powered car might be capable of making the trip.

It would be a shame if there wasn't an event this year - especially as we have moved nearer to more owners :)
