Bonnet problems

I cannot close my bonnet. Is this a common problem or is there a simple way to fix this? I have looked at the catch and it seems to be working ok but it wont engage so I have a rattling bonnet to add to the multitude of other rattles. Any advice or pointers would be very much appreciated.

The spring on the catch sometimes comes out of its retaining groove. Look at it : if the end of the spring is sticking up (nearly vertical) it simply needs pushing back into the groove (so it is approximately horizontal) and then the bonnet will latch. It will need doing every time you open the bonnet so keep a rag handy to avoid getting your hands dirty (the spring is pretty strong and often oily). My R4 does this : most irritating.
