Brakes Seized

Same problem...

This thread sums up my frustration - same problem with my R4 front brakes - at a loss re how to sort it out - anyone live in / near Essex and want to be paid to work on my brakes - so want to get it on the road and use it but seizing brakes means I can't use it - happy to pay some one to work on my car! Michael

I just flushed out all the LHM fluid. Put in some new Dot 4. Took it for a test drive and no issue so far. I will do another SLOW & SHORT test drive (we have some quiet roads) and keep braking all the way. Then come back and flush them again with new liquid.

There is no warning at all for use of LHM liquid. On the shelf at Norauto there is bottles of the stuff right next to the normal DOT 3, 4, 5 etc. Nothing saying which type to use. The silicone fluid I use on my 57 Van has a warning triangle that you place near to the reservoir to alert the user to what kind of fluid it is.

Never come across this before hence the mistake. I will see what happens and order the seal kits for all the individual parts and do it when I can.

Thanks for the help and advice.

It's not anybody's task to warn you about incompatibility of different kinds of brake fluids, and that's why we read and hear very often that jobs on the brake system should be done by qualified people (no offense to you, Tripyrenees!).
However, people at MRP had to kindly suggest that LHM is not compatible with all the other brake parts you bought. They should had noticed it, even though you may ordered the LHM fluid for, say, a Citroen...
I insist, do not put yourself in more trouble, change at least all seals in the system before doing anything else or driving the car, they have been damaged now.
