Hi all. I have two different drive shafts on my '72 R4 car which i am reliably informed is OK. The one side, which is the usual later type and has a rubber gaiter on.
The other side is like half a bean can open on the inside with a drive shaft disappearing into it with what looks like CV joint starting to be visible. Should this have a gaiter in as well, albeit a different type shape ?? IMG_5479.jpegIMG_5480.jpeg

The "bean can" joint is a double cardan joint usually found on early / original driveshafts. A gaiter is not necessary but some poor road vehicles had one fitted as an extra protection against dirt.

Thank you. I am not anticipating gravel road driving, or dirty conditions. All tarmac surfaced roads now for this old girl.
