New chassis

Melun Retro have a good reputation as a professional operation. If UK owners are serious about opening up the possibility of a supply of new chassis, we on the Forum need to reply to this questionnaire. But we have ourselves to be sensible - purely as a guess, based on past posts on this matter, we are probably looking at a sum between £1000 and £2000. So we have to be sure that we would actually be prepared to spend such a sum.

Against this, the collectors' value of right-hand-drive R4s seems to be climbing at present and the opportunity to keep more of them on the road should not be passed up. Nor should we be prepared to countenance the existing small stock of R4s being further depleted by scrapping if any of us have the means to prevent this (i.e. storage space, complaisant wives, etc.).

Has anyone done a cost comparison to a typical (not rust bucket beyond repair) chassis repair? As in cutting, welding, treating and painting? I know the price could vary depending on the rust but I am sure that when chassis do rust they rust in the same areas.
Lastly, will these chassis be galvanized? That would be a game changer for me since rust would finally be removed from the equation! (well rust on the chassis)
