I remember a friend of mine putting his R4 to similar use many years ago, when his landlord offered him free firewood after the forestry contractor had been tidying up some nearby woodland. We duly set off, in the Renault and my own car (an Amazon Estate) to find that the access was a waterlogged muddy track, into which the Amazon bogged down in a car's length. The R4 drove contemptuously round us across a couple of muddy furrows of ploughed field and back onto the track and thence up into the woods, to be loaded up to the bumpstops with free fuel.

Cracking, we love a bit of wood collecting, I've had a couple of trailer loads and have my wood store all nice and full ready for winter.

Hopefully I'll be able to start getting next years supply together now.

The Moulin Bodin is almost out of wood!
It supprised me that one cuts say ten trees down expecting to have a huge wood pile but once its cleaned up and logged up there is only a tiny pile that wouldn't last a week.

Its hard graft, espically when its mild but fun when you see the power cables sparking against each other wondering if anyone else saw you......

Oh and the must have item besides proper safty gloves.... AN ECHO CS3000 ONE HANDED CHAIN SAW, I was amazed at what it could do and how easy and i think, even safer to use than a normal saw. Cant wait to return and carry on where we left off!

(P.s, Ian tree in the red box lays across the lawn. Its all cleaned up but not logged up, thats when the bar bent)

You are completely mad Michael..

..One minute you are busy chopping my trees down in the Vendee and a week later you are 600 miles away in SE London masquerading as a traffic warden - explain what on earth is going on here please?

Also, see if you can persuade anyone on this site to challenge Pip in annual 'Burwell backing a trailer up a narrow alley' competition, which I will be arranging next summer!!

I had a similar problem a few years ago collecting a Scimitar, slightly more difficult it only had 3 wheels and an auto box in gear but no gear stick, had to cut the propshaft and it took 3 hours to get it out of the garden

i was trying not to get dirty!
