Hi all, i have just been quoted over £14 + VAT for an oil filter for my GTL from my local Renault dealer, which seems a lot to me. Can anyone recommend a good quality alternative?

Cheers Simon.

If you have the M20 x 1.50 thread (check your existing filter), then try searching for Renault part number 77 00 274 177. (Earlier Renault part numbers were 77 00 873 603 and 92 00 033 480.)

MANN W 75/3 also fits, or Purflux LS 309.

Hi Jjad, thanks for the reply and the recommendations. I have the part no. but i guess the question i was asking was which non Renault filters were good quality? Interestingly, i found some genuine Renault ones on Ebay at reasonable prices, so all good.

Cheers Simon.

Hi All
Purflux Filters are the best and the reason they are is that the filter material is pleated in a zig zag fashion increasing the filtration area ( or so they boast.)
Renault put their own logo on Purflux Filters, and I have used them on all my Renaults over 40 years and never had an engine issue.
There are a lot of cheap filters out there , just depends on how much you value the Engine.
Trouble is Renault Parts cost too much because of the Staff/ Logistics issues.
I bought a Genuine Oil Filter for one of my Koleos in Central Germany Two months ago and it was about 4 Uk pounds cheaper.
The further the part travels the more expensive it gets.
Kind Regards
Ian.

I've always used genuine Renault or Purflux oil filters on our R4.

Hi Ian, thanks for the info, looks like Purflux is the way to go in future.

Cheers Simon.

Purflux LS932 is the part number for post-84 engines (M20 thread). LS169B is the earlier (3/4"UNF) filter part number.

Check out Autodoc website Simon, loads to choose from, and keen prices. I think your car is post 84, so you will need one stamped M20 x 1.5mm. Best to check before you order.

Thanks for the info on filters just ordered a purflux as my oil service is long over due.
Do you know what size sump washer I need, I've got the 956cc engine 1989

On the 1108cc GTL engine, the sump plug washer is Renault part no: 77 03 062 062.

But I don't know if the 956cc engine has the same size sump plug.

Managed to order a purflux filter via amazon ordered last night and turned up today £9 so not bad at all
