1990 Renault 4 GTL

I’m going to Ziri the first weekend of May to collect the Safari. I Can probably take some parts with me if you want @JdeW.
That would be very welcome Robert, I will first contact Jan about $$$ just traded my Civic S for a Honda CR-V :)
 
Yesterday was a long day. We went to Žiri at 7:30, and by 10 we were there. This is what I first saw

I am very happy with this job, everything was like I wanted, everything was as agreed, Jan`s commitment to quality of work is on a very high level. He also set valves and change both inner cuffs.

I also bought new wheels from him

Now I have to change front left tie rod, do a wheel alignment, change wheels and tires polish it and then I`ll have a brand new R4 :D
 
Yesterday I put back all the carpets and seats, cleaned everything and today I changed tie rod, put new wheels and summer tires and went to wheel alignment. It was heavy rain today in Zagreb, but I couldn`t help myself but make some photos :D

Yesterday car was polished, and here you can see how it`s shining now :D I`m very happy with the results :cool:

On the May 22nd I arranged dent repair to smooth the wrinkles that he collect in 29 years on streets of Zagreb...
 
Today I finally put in my car something I wanted for a long time :D Until now, I had regular low-cost sharp stereo with broken cassette player. But today I got this :cool:

It`s majesty- the early 90s high end Pioneer KEH m7000 SDK
It has double illumination (green/orange), track seeking, antenna equalizer, station memory, CD changer plug (I have original Renault CD changer) and a lot of other functions .
A lot of wires, but I only needed +, earth, and speaker plugs.

Sound is beautiful, everything works like new. Now I only have to hide wires and connect illumination to ingnition lock in order to have illumination when radio is off, but car has contact.

I connected lightening wire to ignition lock so now, light is turning on with the key, all wires are hidden, connected together with plastic cable ties and isolated. Very clean and tidy because I don`t like wire mess :D

Now I have to redo all the locks to fit this new keys.

One more thing- I got brand new NOS license plate light, so I installed it- no photos though.

Now I`m waiting for reversing light lenses to come, not a brand new because I could not find them, but not broken like mine. I will clean and polish them and then it will be like brand new.

Tomorrow is a big day- I`m taking it to dent repair :cool:
Not a whole car, but bonnet and all 4 wings. Hope it would be as I expect. Photos will be there in a few days, till then, enjoy your Quatrelles :)

I took three separate trainings in the UK for dent repair, just for kicks and because at the time PDR didn't exist in the Balkans.
I'm anxiously awaiting your pics and opinions!
 
So, car went back from dent repair but nothing much was done. There were a lot of bumps on the hood, that is repaired. Bump on the front left wing is smaller, but not completely repired, other bumps on other wings are repaired. 5th door bump around lock is not repaired.
Anyway, the guy said that nothing much can be done because the body metal is thin and it`s twisting easily.
I can live with the bumps, they are showing it`s age, but I would be much happier if there isn`t any :D
 
Last two weekends were quite busy :D Last weekend we were on Croatia Classic Marathon in organization of Oldtimer club "Stari kotači" (Old wheels). This marathon is part of Alpe Adria Classic Challenge which contains 6 oldtimer rallies in Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia.
Weather was great, there were 79 cars and 3 motorcycles, route was really great with 130 kms of driving with checking points and accuracy tests on the route. And we had great result- 16th place of 82 :D Here are some photos

And yesterday we went to Bela Krajina in Slovenia on R4 meeting in organization of Katra Klub Slovenije (Katra is the Slovenian nickname for Quatrelle) There were cca. 25 R4s. Great weather, people, food and we had great time :D

Always nice and good to see NOS parts. I expect you have a C1E engine in your GTL as the distributor is for a C1E engine.
Looking at the type number of the carburetor, it looks that one is for a TL not a GTL. There are many differences in the various Zenith 28IF carburetors mainly differences in the internal non adjustable jets
 
Yes, I have C1E engine- 688 D7/12. I`m not sure this carb is for TL since it`s from 1991. On my other carb I have the same type number, but date is 03/95.
 
On my GTL's 688 D7/12 the Zenith 28if V05078B is fitted and it easily reaches 140km/h.
Maybe this pdf can help and on this site there's info on which engine has a specific Zenith 28if.
