I have been working on the camper roof.
Transformation from Bleu Saviem to Ice White.
It needs another coating because it is a bit blotchy.

And a bit more progress.
Last bits of filling patches.
And a lot of sanding.
Fortunately I have a pneumatic sander.
Makes life easier.

After sanding the outside I started with putting on primer.
But one of the cans malfunctioned.
The priming is only partly done.
More to do next Thursday.

A little progress today. I picked up the camper F6 body in order to move it closer to my home.

Unfortunately Joop’s GTL project is without company now.

Hi Reid,
This is not going to be the final finish. Be surprised later on with the color.

For some more info. I decided to put in a 1400cc cleon.
I sourced a 1400cc Renault 12 engine.
It is obviously completely the wrong way around. It needs another camshaft, distribution cover and head.
All of those will come of the 1108cc I'm rebuilding.

Anybody interested in a set of brandspanking new 1108 cilinders and pistons with the conrods and pistonrings installed? The complete set is available for 300 euro or a good offer.

I finally found some time to work on this project today.

I separated the old body from the chassis with assistance of our lift.
With the engine still in it took about 10 minutes of hanging in the air for the chassis to end up on the floor without the body.

It turned out that I have to do a lot more welding because the previous repairs by another welder turn out to be a bit of a bodge.

Well, well Robert, you take no half measures with your faithfull "state forest management" F6 body .
The post is "Gallery of gruesome" worthy to me :D

Last two days have been quite fruitful.

Taken the chairs of the chassis and assessed the rust worms damage.

Made a mock-up off the remainder of the firewall.

And made a start with welding some patches after taking out the damaged pieces. D032B254-5387-4A31-9FE7-24FECC5481AD.jpegFED46C42-C5D5-414F-8D5A-1E6D72E9C165.jpeg4E22BBB2-6009-435D-9F50-DA2131201FB7.jpeg7132D4FB-5484-422F-A0CF-192176D78927.jpeg

Yesterday I did some more welding.

To accommodate my spaghetti manifold I put the remaining piece of the firewall up on the chassis.
And reattached the steering rod.
It did not clear the manifold.
So I raised the engine 12mm
On the left engine silent block

Now the manifold clears the steering rod. Just by some mm but it is enough.

This is only a mock up.
Next step is taking out the engine and welding the floor of the chassis. 486F1369-AFC7-4C65-B836-84BFB705D0BE.jpegED793A1B-3D65-4A6D-8A71-CC11215D51ED.jpeg

What other mods you are planning for the engine? I'm putting intake manifold with twin barrel weber from renault 5 automatic .

Just a 32mm solex SEIA with a 1.45mm main jet.
Not looking for speed just some more umph.

I had an appointment with a friend to fix some things on his R5 supercinq.
One of the front brakes was sticking and he wanted a 123 ignition in it. Whilst I was doing his things I set him to work on the top of my chassis. Sanding it and degreasing it.
After lunch we both got to work on painting the front and back foot wells and the top of the chassis.

On this beautiful spring day you have some choices.
Take your bicycle and go for a ride.
Go to the beach or into the woods (government says stay home)
Or go to your man cave/ workshop and work on a project.
I took the last option to not be tempted to break the social distancing rules.

I did go with a friend though. We kept our distance and worked with face masks on.
I prepped the bonnet for paint. And put some filler in the dents after panel beating them out a bit.
And I prepped the two fiberglass wings I had laying around for some years.
And the whole body got a rub down to make it smooth for paint.
A spring day well spend I’d say.
