What have I done! (R4 GTL)

Alternator needed some attention. Cleaning, changing bearings on both ends, changing brushes, and leveling rotating brushing rings.

I have done cleaning but could not remove bearings so left car electrician to do so!

Had big problem to install brake line pipes around compensator because pipes that i have bought are steel one (rather than copper one commonly used), and it was very hard to bend pipe. Especial small one that goes from compensator to the left wheel flexible pipe.

I really do hope that all bends on small pipe are in good shape because if somewhere will be problem with brakes i believe that this small pipe is place to look for it

Some tips for installation of fuel tank.

first loosen spear wheel bracket so that you can pull through fuel tank, and definitely MUST screw bolts from underside. Screw heads must look facing road. So that you can remove fuel tank when body is on chassis

And finally for tonight

Still need to do seal fuel gauge sender unit that goes into fuel tank
Put some clamps on fuel line
And rise front torsion bars

Hope that next week car will be at body shop to joint chassis and body and to brig all car back home for installation of rest

Good night and hope that you have enjoined looking (and some reading) this few last posts.

Thank you for your time

Excellent work here - I was getting confused with the handbrake bracket and then realised it goes to the back with nice disks up front. Wish I had those, it was a real pain doing the drums these past few days.

Yes tripyrenees, this model that i own is 92 GTL model. Front discs and handbrake on rear wheels.

Pffff... I've never seen before that a restoration like yours, you dismantle absolutly all the components, your car will be NEW   I believed there was no one to be as mad as me with the finishing of ihs car, but you exist, and you are worst than me, congratulations !!!!!

When this kind of comment comes from you (one that i am looking up at) then i am very proud on my job.

Thank you for your compliment

Big step forward happened yesterday.

It has gone to body shop for mounting cabin and all door, bonnet, wings.... and paint of course.

Now i have one month to finish electrical installation, steering column, seats, windows, lights....

Lot of work still to do!

I forgot one thing.
Yesterday also had visit from forum member borgeb. Talked little bit about our lovely R4.
His is running, and my is still partly in boxes... but nice two hours spend with passionate R4 owner.

Hello Petak, and thanks for letting me enjoy the result (so far) of your 4 year long projekt. And I can ashure the forum members that this is real, every screw, nut, washer, absolutely everything taken care of to the ultimate result. In the boxes you can see on the photo of the chassis there are small bits for the reassambling, categorized, marked and listed. Nothing left unsuperviced.
I am looking forward to see the finished car driving between Vodice and Bettina with a smiling Petak inside!!

Petak,

What's the status? Long time no updates.. What's happening with R4? Everything running by plans? Any new pictures? :) Looking forward,

Janko

Thank you for concern!

It is still at body guy waiting to be painted from outside.

Inside painting is done, body is mounted on chassis, front and rear wings, all door, bonnet are in place.
Engine bay is painted after front wings are mounted.

Problem is that he is working on other cars at the same time. So mine is little bit at the end of line.

I am working on electricity (changing wires, connectors, adding some "modern" items), preparing window rubbers, seats....

Insulation material is in garage.....trying to collect all necessary bits and peaces so when car is back home all i have to do is put parts back in place

My latest idea that i am turning into life is interval wiping
Modern cars do have wipers that are switching once every few second.
On more modern car you can change that interval by turning some knob on wiper arm.

Well I am building one that wiper arm

I have bought wiper interval kit and small potenciometer that can fit into wiper arm.

And here are the story of making interval wiping arm for R4

1. ordinary wiper arm for R4
