R4 restoration made in France

I have seen new Clan stickers for sale on ebay fairly recently. They are definitely available somewhere.

I've been told that we can find these stickers on ebay, the only question for me is: are they good quality ? Do they resist to the sun for example, do they discolor after all ? I will be very disappointed to have a fantastic painting job, and finally bad and aweful cheap stickers

I don't know about this. It might be worth checking on the on the french forum might have bought them already and would know.

I gonna ask them what they think about these "new" stickers sold on ebay; concerning this saturday, after having got back parts (doors and inner wings, the other ones have been painted the day before, and I prefer let them drying...) I took the body/chassis to Sylvain:

Now the car is ready for paint, the body will be removed from the chassis before paint job, and when the paint will be totally dry, refitted on the chassis:

The for doors and inner wings have been carefully put in my garage, next my Super Seven, I won't touch them during at least 2 weeks before starting fitting the differents parts...

Next step: this wednesday I return at Sylvain's garage to see the progress of the work ;)

Finally I didn't go to Sylvain'a garage yesterday, I was really too busy at home... But I called him to have news from my car: the roof has been completely sanded up to the sheet steel, it had been repainted very badly many years ago and the coachbuilder is in fear that it can have chimical reactions :( :( I'm going to visit him today as soon as possible... News this evening I hope ;)

At least the doors do look marvellous Alexandre! I'm really looking forward to see the pictures of the newly painted car! Good luck!

 Here are the pictures of my "new" and beautiful GTL body  Only the inside of the body has been first painted, the outside will be done later when the rear wings will be adjusted.

Hi David,

at this moment all the body has been painted, and refitted on the chassis, it is like a new one... no, in better better state than it was in 1987 :D :D The pictures of this fantastic pain job will be soon posted.

David, this afternoon I went to the scrapyard to get the part you need... unfortunatly the rear door of the F6 in the place has been sold few days ago    But don't matter, I continue to look for the part ;)

Can't wait to see the pictures of your Sliver Star !!!
And thanks for hunting that little part down for me!
(Keep your time! I am also still looking for a new Renault4 F6 Badge for my rear door.) ;)

Cheers,

David

My friend Sylvain found the real seal beetween body and chassis, it is still sold at Renault suppliers ref 77 01 423 330

I also looked for in my notebooks to find my "new" hardware to fit the body on chassis:

A lot of people also told me the same thing :D :D :D

Few weeks ago the body has been refitted on the chassis with my friend Sylvain:

I bought new rubber seals at "Le Comptoir de la Carrosserie" and windscreen, rear and side glasses have been fitted with new rubber seals:

Gerard is definitively the best guy I know for bodywork, welding and painting job, last time I went to the garage to fit my rubber seals, he was working on a Peugeot 202, and still made awesome job, recreating many complexed and rusted parts with simple steel sheets...

Last time I will told you about my lovely R4, it will be at home ;)

Hi everybody :D

news from my little GTL, 2 weeks ago the weather was surprisingly fine, this is the reason why I decided to go to fetch my car, when I arrived at Sylvain garage it waited for me
708 Vue arrière.jpg
We used the tow truck to go back home where I'm finally going to be able to work on my car...
710 Départ.jpg
712 Garage.jpg
The first thing I symbolically decided to do was to restore it its "name", after cleaning and brush the plates, I carefully riveted them on the bulkhead:
713 Plaques constructeur.jpg
714 Rivet pop pour fixation.jpg
Then I started by refitting the crankset, after (herdly) collecting all the different parts, it is ready to be fitted on the car:
718 Pièces pédalier.jpg
720.jpg
Then I refitted the seatbelts, as you cans see at the top of the belt, they're not perfect, but I want to keep at most alle the parts of origin:
722 Ceinture conducteur.jpg
Even if I paid attention not to loose little parts, for 3 years some parts are missing, so I went to Sylvain garage to take all that I needed to continue the job, in particular the plastic grille below the windscreen; maybe you won't believe me but I took one hour to take it without breaking anything
724 Grille prélevée.jpg
Here is all that I got back, with also grease, breke fluid and especially the seal used to fit the body on the chassis; I will use this product to fit the front inner wings instead of polyurethane seal, according to me too dirty and too boring to use...
