Road trip 2011 - Thenay 50th Anniversary

Right I'm all paid up and the state of my Bon de commande is confirme ;)

Qui, moi aussi. I have un Bon de Commande! Easy Peasy or C'est très facile as they say in French

Thanks all.

must confess to being a bit confused-Have paid for 2 tickets and Received 1 T-shirt(?) but no tickets-I gather they will be operating a name-list of sort so poss.it's will be good enough to state name at gate.
They conform nicely to the legend of Why make stuff easy-when it could be done the French-way huh? -R.

For anyone else who struggles with absurd French website design here's Frederick the Frog's guide to French internet checkouts:

1/ Click the link above
2/ Scroll down a bit, click the Ajouter button (seems similar to add to cart)
3/ In the pop up thing click Votre panier (look at your French cart - the link is also up there top right)
4/ Look for Commander and click that. Probably means buy.
5/ You're into the French payment system. That's the easy bit.
6/ It asks for a intentifant (username) and Mot de pass (password). If you haven't bought from 4L international before you need to click the little button beside Nouveaux client.
7/ Fill in the form. Prenom is first name, nom is surname, ville is town, pays is country. You need to click the accept whatever their conditions are at the bottom.
8/ Press the S'inscrire button to submit the form
9/ They send you an email
10/ Click on the link in the email to confirm you are who you said you were in the first place.
11/ From the link find where you were before, or follow the link at the top of the page and go through everything again.
12/ Go through the process again until you find the bit listed in 6/ above
13/ it's easy from there - you get to pay via paypal.
14/ Steps 14 to 30 - Go through much the same thing with Paypal fair enough if you don't already have an account. At least it's in English this time
31/ Tickets - wOOt!!!!! You have to pick them up at the door - print out everything just in case.

Madness the whole thing - steps 6 to 12 might be unfamiliar - they are going out of fashion in other countries so are even confusing in other languages, but I've got a ticket!

Getting ready

bit early do you think...
there expecting over a 1000 4s to attend according to Chloe:eek:

I didn't think they had printed the T-shirts yet. You collect them there when you show your ticket. Did they send you one?

I thought you collected the t shirt and tickets on arrival as well...

What I meant was you get your ticket on arrival and then you go to the stall where the t-shirts are and show the ticket to get your t-shirt in whatever size you want.

Hi Malcolm my trip to Thenay may be in some doubt.
Major rebuild of the 8TS engine here in Spain.
My passport stolen in Spain cannot order a new one until I get home and John no longer really wants to go.
If I am unable to go I will send all the spare plaques to you to take.
Gary

Hey that's a real shame!

I know how losing the passport feels, I did that in Belgium last year!

Good look getting your engine rebuilt.

Sorry guys Didn't see your posts b4 now-yes I got mine (one of them anyways-in the mail.. Thought I'd get two since paid for 2 tickets.. If ordering 1 ticket Do you get a half shirt?? -R.

I'm thinking of going but it's doubtful whether I'll have a roadworthy Quatrelle at that time. I don't fancy driving down with Penny (my 405), so I'll take the TGV unless anyone wants to give me a lift?

Edit: A thought occurs Re: the Dutch/Belgian convoy. Do they know the Champs-Elysée is closed on 14 July for a military parade?

I'm sure one of us can give you a lift depending on where you are and all that although if you are not driving then train might be easier anyway? If so then if you can get to Amboise on a train then it should be easy pick you up from the station.

Hello Gary, very sorry to hear your news, hope you get your 8 fixed ok and are able to obtain new passport in time for Thenay. I've been thinking, (sometimes a bit of a dodgy thing to do). If your friend John is not up for the trip now perhaps you and iMacThere4iam could join forces and travel together. I travelled to Thenay on my own last year, and at times it would have been nice to have some company, and someone to just keep an eye on the map!
PS Don't any of you say get a sat nav, the very idea of such a thing!

Reading a map while driving

Hi Brian,
Have you ever thought about getting a sat nav....:D

So Chappies, is the ticket for the car?, or do we need one for each occupant?. I'm assuming each occupant.

Alan.
