Road trip 2011 - Thenay 50th Anniversary

Not to worry angel, take it from me, 4l international will be quite an experience, if last year is anything to go by.

I was (and still am) a bit scared by the distance, but now I decided and I will come to Thenay this summer with a (or possibly some) friend, if all goes right.
We shall drive my r4 if we are two or three, if someone other will join us we will take another car (possibly a Clio) and come with 2 cars. We need place for equipment and for some eventual gadget/equipment I will buy in France (!).
I do not know if I will come with the italian forum team, they organize a caravan, but I plan to have a longer trip to visit some France before/after Thenay... Maybe I come with them then continue the trip on my way...
I will camp, 'cause I'm a camping fan and it is cheaper and easier (and even funnier!)...
What are the time limits to book tickets and camping site?
It will be nice to meet you by face, although there could be some problem due to my very bad spoken english... I will draw something to be understood...
There is some special plaque or sticker? I read something about, if it is possible I would like to have one...
Thanks and... see you!

That's quite a trip you are planning, 1300+km, good idea I think to travel in company, if you can, but take your time, and enjoy the scenery. I camped last year, you might need to book. Earlier in this thread is the booking form. There is no language barrier, we all talk Renault 4 don't we? Last year I met one of your countrymen, he was from Milano, his second language was French, spoke no English, and my French is not good, and my Italian even worse, but we still chatted. See you there. Regards Brian.

If i am not following the other italian forum members in their project, I was thinking of a 2 day travel, 350km in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. So in a pair of days we arrive.
Or maybe more stops and more time, but visiting other places...
Usually I prefer doing a looong travel on the go and stop quite more often in the return, 'cause I am more tired...

Only two days travelling to Thenay? Have you got a turbo under the bonnet?:D

Bha, I already did 350 km in less than half a day, during my past holidays...
Quite tiring, i admit, but being in 2 will help, half a day driving each...

I see you have it all worked out, good luck with the journey. You asked about stickers and plaques. I'm not sure if stickers are planned, there was talk about it, and I think that the plaques have been already ordered. May I suggest you PM ggcton, he should be able to tell you the latest on these. All the best.

I have today put all the Rally Plaques ordered in envelopes to post tomorrow.

I still have some left so if you are comming to the event and have not sent me your address now is the time to do so.
It does not matter which club you belong to Renault classic Car club is supplying to all forum members who are attending the event.

We're going too!

Just to let you know that a 'caravan' of Dutch and Belgian R4 enthusiasts will be going to Thenay for the 3rd 4L International Meeting to celebrate 4L's 50 years. See http://home.planet.nl/~oeffe035/50_en.htm

Hey, new edition of 4L Magazine just landed on my doormat. Theres a fairly comprehensive programme of events for Thenay inside. Looks like it should be a great weekend and I am rather excited!

Just need to think about what jobs I need to get done before I set off.

I've been sorting through the jobs on my 4 and took her for an MOT today! She passed with an advisory about 1 drive shaft gaiter looking like it's about to split, so there's my next job to do!

So far, I've still got a radio to fit and I noticed a slight leak from somewhere in my cooling system, I've been flushing it out recently and judging by the amount of crap in there, they may have been a dog turd put in the system at some point!

So I may have a problem with a coolant leak to sort!

Hi Maybe I've missed something - do we need to register/buy tickets to take our cars in?
Thanks

dont they mean a convoy (not caravan)

You don't have to but you might as well - if you pre book you get a free t-shirt, a rally plaque and earlier entry on the Friday (if my French is correct). I think its also slightly cheaper.

Its straight forward enough and they accept PayPal.

Can some one remind me where the link is to pay up front and I'll add it to the front page of this thread!

This thread has become so big it's getting difficult to find the information in it!

Cheers Lobster, I have added the link to the very first post, so I don't lose it again ;)
