What I am doing!

Where did you obtain your seat covers from and how much, please? These are vinyl so do they also do the tartan cloth seat covers.

Hi Paul

These covers are a '60's /70's pattern but made for GTL seats at my request.
They came from an ebay supplier the same I guess that makes for Der Franzose.
So yes the checked GTL format ones will also be available. I do still have my old ones if they are of any use?
Fair to moderate condition

Jonathan, I should be able to collect my R4GTL in about a week's time so I will look more closely at the seats and let you know.

The rubber carpet is the same, there was a piece of cardboard covering the springs under the seat... I'll send a photo once I have fittted ot again.

Attentions turned now to the engine that's been patiently waiting all wrapped up. I've had it completely rebuilt ...maybe X mad moment!

Now to remember where all the bits go!

Next problem a engine hoist for reasonable cost to hire. The local hire company want £35 plus vat!!!

Exams over And I have a little help from my son ....I was loaned an engine crane ....what a difference! We had the engine in in minutes and able to lower it really carefully into position.

Doesn't half look odd this way round !? Am I reading Haynes back to front ?

Maybe should leave the windscreen out so I can reach forward and change gear!

Hello Paul

I cant find where you(who) asked me but I think it was you who wanted my old seat covers or at least a front one?

Or for anyone else reading this I have a complete set of GTL covers in the grey, red and blue. The rear seat covers are very good (as you might expect). The front ones - one has some crazing on the top edge. another a small hole in the check. But between them both there is a fairly good seat and back cover.

I suspect a couple of goes in the washing machine will have them looking great. - Maybe a reject one could be tried first?

Anyway these or some of these you are welcome to free of charge as long as you cover the post which I guess would be about £6. PM me a message Paul N or anyone else wanting the back seat covers

Jonathan

After examining my seats, I just need the covers for ONE front seat thanks. I swopped the passenger seat for the drivers seat and stiffened up the springs with a lot of cable ties. Please send me your address to pn31146(at)Hotmail.co.uk and I will pop a cheque (remember those?) in the post to you. As the edges of the covers are vinyl, I don't think they take kindly to a washing machine.

Ok Paul will be in contact....in the meantime it's taken TWO bottles of beer to get the windscreen this far. Both me and my son covered in black butyl sealer and cleaning off with petrol. The trim is going to need another bottle of beer to lubricate its passage. Discovered a 'walking' action helps get one edge of the trim in positio. Then the other. Progress rate 20mm every 2 mins :ashamed:

There is a tool for inserting the trim in the screen rubber. Well worth leaving the job and ordering it on ebay for next week.

Yes, It's a wooden handle with a sort of diamond shaped end made from steel wire. You could get that chrome trim in in a minute or two with one of those. I have one.

Got to eBay and search for 'Windscreen Filler Tools'.

I agree they are brilliant and takes no time at all  got mine off ebay too,

Ha ha marvellous guys thank you. Didn't see your postings till just now. Got the trim done I developed my technique as I went round. Oddly more satisfying than seeing the engine in !
Getting dark now maybe a little tinker with the rear quarter lights

Rear view mirror now will be on the dashboard. This windscreen was off an earlier model of that format and no chip for advisory on the Mot!

Front window trim have put same way you did.
With fingers and small flat screwdriver to lift rubber edge
One edge in and second easily pushed inside.

Who need tools! :doh::D :drunk:

:artist:

Beer would be nice. Cheers!

Sometime, somewhere we will drink it.

Bum.....found this in the parts box. It's meant to be on the bottom of the engine!
Fortunately I can see it can be fitted from the underside
